One of my favorite vacation memories is my last spring break as a student.

My sister and I set out with a plan for a road trip, making a big loop. From the get-go we hit a few snags, like leaving the snacks behind, road closures, full camping sites, and just bad timing. We had to reroute and change course on the fly. As a planner, it was frustrating, but we found ourselves at destinations we would never have thought of otherwise.

The stops ended up including, White Sands, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and the Great Sand Dunes. Every stop was inspiring and breathtaking to see, more than worth the hiccups to get there. I don’t have a lot of pictures from that trip because it was impossible to capture just how beautiful everything was, so I gave up trying and just took it all in.
